As the Associate Director of Finance and Administration at the National Zoo, Carol Fiertz is responsible for assisting the director in the National Zoo’s overall finance and administration activities. She aids in the planning, development, direction, and management of several of the Zoo’s programs and administrative activities.
Fiertz earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Middlebury College and a master’s in international studies from the Paul Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.
Fiertz has more than 15 years of federal experience at the Peace Corps, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, the Federal Communications Commission, and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History serving in a variety of administrative and technical positions. Before joining the federal government, she worked at Morgan Stanley in New York, Tokyo, and Zurich.
