Ticket holders receive exclusive access to the Whole Foods Market VIP Lounge where they will enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and desserts catered by Whole Foods Market, private viewing of the great cats, complimentary parking, two drink tickets, and a commemorative Rock-N-Roar lanyard.

Meet the Fray Contest

Use text, photos or video telling us why you deserve to meet The Fray and see them perform live at Rock-N-Roar, sponsored by Whole Foods. Be creative! Send your lyrics from any song to @FONZNationalZoo and use #rocknroar.

Rules: Entries will be collected via Facebook and Twitter and can be seen via the scrolling #rocknroar feed on the left. Contest will run from August 13-30. Entries will be judged on creativity and number of shares. One winner, selected by FONZ staff, will be contacted via Twitter or Facebook and their winning post will be shared. Winner receives two regular admission tickets to Rock-N-Roar as well as the opportunity to meet the band before showtime.

The Band

The Fray Topping the charts since 2005, The Fray is an unbeatable experience live. With home grown lyrics and keyboard riffs to rival Queen, The Fray are a classic band perfect for summer listening—and what better venue than the Zoo? The Fray will play their classic hits like ‘How To Save a Life’ as well as selections from their new album Helios, released in February. Don’t let this once a year concert go Over Your Head.

Opening Act

Joseph Keith Joseph Keith is a Washington DC area based singer/songwriter.
Inspired by such artists as John Mayer, Rob Thomas, Jason Mraz and the Goo Goo Dolls, he has written over 100 songs and recorded 4 albums in the past 4 years.
He has worked with some of the industry’s leading musicians and producers based in both northern Virginia and Nashville.

What to Bring

Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or low seated lawn chairs to enhance your experience. Lawn/beach chairs can be no higher than 36”. Food, non-alcoholic beverages, beer and wine will be available for purchase at the Zoo throughout the concert. To be served alcohol, you must present a valid photo ID. Outside food and beverages will not be permitted.

How to Get to Rock-N-Roar

Guests with regular (non-VIP) tickets will be charged $22 for parking. FONZ encourages you to take public transportation and to drink responsibly. Take the Red Line to the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan stop of the Cleveland Park stop. The Zoo entrance lies halfway between these stops, and both are a short walk from the Zoo.

Friends of the National Zoo encourages you to use public transportation and drink responsibly. To visit the Zoo by Metro, take the Red Line to the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan stop or the Cleveland Park stop. The Zoo entrance lies halfway between these stops, and both are a short walk from the Zoo. VIP ticket holders receive complimentary parking. The cost to park for general admission ticket holders is $22.

Do I Need a Photo ID?

Yes, photo ID is required to buy alcohol.

Where is the Event Located?

Rock-N-Roar will be located in the lower portion of the Zoo by Lion/Tiger Hill. Lion/Tiger Hill is about a 10 minute walk from the top of the Zoo.
