at the Fujifilm Giant Panda Habitat
Sunday, July 9, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Take Part in the Birthday Fun
Learn about Tai Shan's first year with Zoo keeper talks, talk with interpreters, and enjoy arts and crafts. Keepers will be at the Ed-Zoo-cation Station every hour on the hour from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Plus, meet some Zoo scientists who are working to study and save this endangered species. Be sure to stop by the Visitor Center auditorium, where we will show Animal Planet's “A Panda Is Born throughout the day.
Bring your camera. Lead panda sponsor Fujifilm invites you to take your picture with a panda-costumed character. Kids will receive a commemorative Tai Shan magnet.
First Come, First Served
Be one of the first 1,000 visitors to Tai Shan's party at the Fujifilm Giant Panda Habitat on July 9 and enjoy a free birthday cupcake, courtesy of Whole Foods Market.
Special Treats for Tai
For his big day, Tai Shan will receive a custom-made fruitsicle, prepared by Zoo nutritionists. Tai loves fruitsicles, so he will surely enjoy his special treat. Also, he will be presented with a new soccer ball and a baby pool filled with water, two new toys, generously provided by Fujifilm.
Happy Birthday Wishes
Pick up a blank birthday card at the Zoo or a participating panda partner location, Whole Foods and Panda Express. Panda Express will be giving away collectible panda plush animals to children who request a birthday card at participating Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia restaurants (while supplies last).
Decorate the card with birthday wishes any way you like and bring it to Tai Shan's birthday party on July 9. Cards will be collected and displayed next to the Fujifilm tent.
If you're unable to celebrate Tai Shan's birthday at the Zoo, we encourage you to create a birthday card and send it to:
