Don’t miss ZooFari 2009, where you’ll find all the ingredients for an unforgettable evening. Help celebrate elephantine appetites and the National Zoo’s commitment to Asian elephants at ZooFari 2009. This enchanted evening will bring together an oasis of culinary delights, fabulous wine, live entertainment, a chance to meet celebrity chef Carla Hall and a spectacular auction.
On the Path to Conservation
This year’s ZooFari highlights Asian elephant conservation. Unless we act now, elephants in Asia could soon be extinct. Human-elephant conflict and habitat loss have decreased wild populations by 70 percent. To protect the future of Asian elephants, the National Zoo has launched Elephant Trails: A Campaign to Save Asian Elephants. Through this comprehensive breeding, education, and research program, Zoo scientists will better care for elephants in zoos and help save them in the wild. A key component of Elephant Trails is a new home for elephants at the Zoo.

Tickets
ZooFari tickets are no longer available online. You may purchase tickets at the Zoo's Visitor Center until 4 p.m. or at the event.
Please note that the 21-and-over restriction for ZooFari 2009 has been lifted. Many long-time FONZ members and past ZooFari attendees have expressed their concern, noting their tradition of attending the event with their families. We listened to the concerns expressed and have decided to remove the restriction. Everyone is welcome to attend. Alcohol will be served and we will be checking IDs. Please remember all attendees age two and over must have a ticket, and due to space limitations within the Zoo, there will be no strollers allowed during the event. ZooFari is a non-smoking event.

Elephant Affair ZooFari Lounge Tickets
Treat yourself to ZooFari's exclusive lounge area. Not only will you enjoy all the regular benefits of ZooFari, but you will also receive valet parking and admittance to a lounge area. The Lounge will feature a private bar, specialty drink, and coffee service.
After an evening of sampling savory cuisine within the main even site, Lounge guests will enjoy specialty desserts including made to order flambé, miniature morsels, a s'mores station and a chocolate fountain, courtesy of Chocolate Chick. Throughout the night keepers will delight guests with visits from the Zoo's living collection and Smithsonian scientists will be on hand to share their insight on local wildlife through interactive displays.
Exclusive to this year's event, local (and now famous) Washingtonian chef and owner of Alchemy Caterers and "Top Chef" reality show finalist Carla Hall will whip up a food demonstration or two in the exclusive ZooFari Lounge.
