2008 dates to be determined
At the end of 2007, FONZ held its biggest and brightest event ever—ZooLights, powered by Pepco. For 25 nights, the Zoo shone with thousands of environmentally friendly lights and animated exhibits. These larger-than-life displays featured many of the Zoo’s most popular animals, all constructed of LED lights that use about 90 percent less energy than traditional incandescent light bulbs.
See some ZooLights highlights.
ZooLights also offered visitors the chance to sample tasty treats like hot chocolate, kettle corn, cookies, and cider, meet keepers in some of our exhibits, enjoy a scavenger hunt, and learn about the Zoo's animals in winter. But that’s not all.

A chance to make fun, winter-themed crafts and bird feeders, decorate cookies, watch an ice-sculpting demonstration, enjoy puppet shows, and listen to storytellers were also featured at ZooLights. Featured entertainment varied from evening to evening and week to week.
Every evening, our friends from Pepco educated visitors about simple practices they can adopt in their households to save energy.
And last but not least, visitors had the chance to see lots of animals. The Small Mammal House, Great Ape House, Reptile Discovery Center, Think Tank, and Kids' Farm were open every night.
Want to sponsor a display or a special area of the Zoo at ZooLights 2008? You'll choose from among trees, shrubs, and statues identified by the Zoo’s Horticulture Department, and professional designers will handle all the decorations. Plus, a lit sign with a message of recognition or dedication can accompany your sponsored area throughout ZooLights. Reserve a decorated area at the Zoo for your special someone for ZooLights 2008.
