Help Clouded Leopards When You Sign Up
Friends of the National Zoo is proud to offer a new tour of Asia Trail. On Saturday mornings this fall, an expert guide will lead a small group around Asia Trail's seven exhibits, teaching guests all about the fascinating species that can be seen here—giant pandas, red pandas, Asian small-clawed otters, clouded leopards, fishing cats, Japanese giant salamanders, and sloth bears—and how the Zoo works to conserve them.
Tours begin at 10:15 a.m. on Saturdays and are limited to just ten guests. They last about an hour and a half and end with a demonstration of how sloth bears eat. During a very special part of the tour, guests will meet a clouded leopard keeper, who will talk in depth and answer any questions about the Zoo’s resident leopard pair.
The tour fee is $5 for children 12 and younger, and $10 for all other guests. One hundred percent of the proceeds support the construction of a new clouded leopard facility at the Zoo's Front Royal, Virginia, campus, where more than 76 cubs have been born.
