The Zoo's Elephant House closed to the public on September 14 to let the next phase of Elephant Trails, an innovative new home for Asian elephants, get underway. During this phase of construction, the Elephant House will be renovated and transformed into the Elephant Community Center. Elephant Trails is slated to open in 2011.

The Zoo's three elephants are on view outside during exhibit hours but may occasionally be inside. Due to the Elephant House closing, the daily elephant bath demo (which takes place indoors) has been suspended. The daily training demo (which is held outside) will continue until mid-October, and we hope to resume it later this year. We apologize if visitors are unable to view the elephants and hope they will return to the Zoo to explore Elephant Trails once it opens.
