Geographic Range

Habitat

American flamingos live in saline lagoons and large, shallow inland lakes. Water is critical to their survival, as this is the only habitat where they are able to feed.

Flamingos in their natural habitat

Range in Territory

American flamingos are partially migratory. They often disperse following the breeding season, or in response to adverse weather conditions. Daily movements between Bonaire and Venezuela have been recorded. The Galapagos population is sedentary.
