Thanks to everyone who voted to name the male giant panda cub, born at the National Zoo on July 9. More than 200,000 votes were cast for the following names:
- Hua Sheng ("China Washington" and "magnificent")
- Sheng Hua ("Washington China" and "magnificent")
- Tai Shan ("peaceful mountain")
- Long Shan ("dragon mountain")
- Qiang Qiang ("strong, powerful")
On October 17, when the cub was 100 days old, the winning name was announced: Tai Shan.

Congratulations to Rod Sallee of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. He was selected from a random drawing of voters. He received a private visit with the giant panda family during a tour of the Fujifilm Giant Panda Habitat, along with a Fujifilm digital camera, and a gift bag from Animal Planet.
