Well, the cubs are becoming more and more active. They divide their time between eating (both meat and milk), sleeping, and wrestling with each other. And speaking of food, Soyono and the three cubs are now getting fed more than twice what the cubs' dad, Rokan, is getting—and he weighs about 100 pounds more than Soyono! It takes a lot of energy to be a tiger cub. One of the cubs is over 15 pounds; the other two are more than 13 pounds. They have a lot of growing to do before they're as big as Rokan, who weighs 280 pounds.
The only real news I have to report is that the cubs are now big and brave enough to sit in front of the mesh door while their mother is outside. Soyono can keep an eye on them but still get a little quiet time to herself. At first she will spend most of the time in front of the door, but just like a human mother, she will learn that not every little squeak that her babies make is an emergency. This means that the best time to see the cubs on the cub cam is when Soyono is outside, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. (more or less!). We will be moving the camera to focus on the area right in front of the door, so you might get to have lunch with the cubs.
There are a few questions that we get asked all the time, and I thought I would take this opportunity to answer them.
