Support the Zoo's Tiger Conservation Program

Sumatran tigerYou can help tigers by making a donation. The National Zoo's Tiger Conservation Fund supports the training and mentoring of leaders in wild tiger conservation from the tiger range states in Asia. The National Zoo has been engaged in securing a future for wild tigers since 1973. This Fund allows us to continue our important work in supporting students and leaders in wild tiger conservation, as they receive training in conservation policy, environmental monitoring, landscape ecology, and population genetics.

The ExxonMobil Foundation, in conjunction with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation's Save The Tiger Fund, has made a generous donation to the National Zoo's Tiger Conservation Fund.

The Save The Tiger Fund, established in 1995 by ExxonMobil Foundation and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, is dedicated to supporting the conservation of Asia's tigers. Since its inception, Save The Tiger has supported 271 projects with more than $13.6 million, investing in conservation projects to save the world's remaining wild tiger populations, their prey and their habitats. Since 1992, ExxonMobil Foundation has helped provide support for ongoing tiger conservation and community outreach programs that provide cooperative, long-range solutions. The National Zoo is proud to partner with Save The Tiger Fund and the ExxonMobil Foundation in presenting our Postcards to Protect contest, to inspire children to care about the future of endangered tigers.

The Zoo's tiger naming contest follows the July 20 public announcement of Setting Priorities for the Conservation and Recovery of Wild Tigers: 2005-2015, a report commissioned by Save The Tiger Fund; National Zoo scientists contributed to this ground-breaking report. more
