Kids' Farm is one of the newest exhibits at the National Zoo. At the Pizza Garden, Caring Corral, and other hands-on features, visitors can learn that most of the food we eat every day comes from farms, and taking care of animals takes time, dedication, and knowledge.
American Trail
Temporarily Closed
The Zoo's American Trail (formerly known as Beaver Valley) has closed for construction of Elephant Trails and construction of a wonderful new exhibit for seals and sea lions. The exhibit will open in 2012. The rest of the trail, opening at a later date, will be home to other North American animals, including beavers,
river otters, bald eagles, and ravens. Thanks for your patience while we work to improve the Zoo for its animals and visitors.
Find out about the new seal and sea lion exhibit.
You can see a black-footed ferret and black-tailed prairie dogs in the Small
Mammal House, and collared peccaries outside the building. Black-footed ferrets nearly went extinct in the 1980s, but Zoo scientists have helped save the species.
