Chambered Nautilus

The nautilus is a deep-dwelling mollusk that lives in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. During the day, the nautilus will avoid predators by staying at a depth of 2,000 feet. At night, the animal will vertically migrate to reefs in around 300 feet of water, using its tentacles to forage for food. The nautilus is unique in its ability to withstand the large changes in pressure and temperature that accompany its nightly journey upward.
