Hermit Crab

Unlike most crabs, which are covered with a calcified armor, the hermit crab's abdomen is soft and vulnerable. The animal protects itself by living in a gastropod shell. When the crab outgrows its shell house, it will discard its old home and find a new, bigger shell to occupy.
