Chinese Water Dragon

When nervous or frightened the lizards will take refuge in the water. They are strong swimmers and if necessary, can remain submerged for long periods of time, up to 25 minutes.

They will usually live in groups with one dominant male and several females. The male is territorial, and will attempt to drive off other males.

This animal resides in the Reptile Discovery Center.
