Small Madagascar Hedgehog Tenrec

The tenrec can roll up in a ball to protect its soft underbelly. It will also lunge backward to drive its spikes into an enemy.

Hedgehog tenrecs are found mostly in the dry forests, scrub, cultivated areas, dry coastal regions, and semideserts of Madagascar.

Hedgehog tenrecs are nocturnal.
