Birding, Banding, and Bagels
Around 25 early birders met up with a myriad of colorful and rare early birds at the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Club's spring bird walk on the morning of May 2, 2009. The group split into smaller teams and hit a variety of Rock Creek Park hot spots such as:
- The Dog Run
- The Equitation Field
- The Ridge
- The Stables
- The Maintenance Yard
The List
The teams found 65 different kinds of birds and got killer looks at some of the hard-to-see migratory birds.
After the bird walk, we met at the zoo for bagels and coffee and a bird banding demonstration at the National Zoo.
