The research effort of the National Zoo is carried out by a group of more than 100 people consisting of scientists,
postdoctoral fellows,
research associates,
administrative support personnel,
visiting scientists, and students from other institutions.
Most scientists are based at either the Front Royal, Virginia or the Washington, DC facilities with research projects
conducted worldwide.
