Just because it's winter, it doesn't mean you need to hibernate—the National Zoo's animals are ready to romp and we are ready for you!
Snow Safari campers will explore the lives, habitats, and conservation of animals around the world.
Each four-day session includes exciting hands-on activities, craft projects, science experiments, and walks through the Zoo. (Please note: There is never direct contact with the animals.) There's "snow" doubt about it! Snow Safari Day camp is the coolest way to spend your winter vacation!
Ages: Campers are grouped into two grade levels: K-1 and 2-5. Snow Safari is not offered at the pre-K level. Children may only be registered for their current grade level.
Dates/Times: Snow Safari Day Camp will run December 30 and 31, 2013 and January 2 and 3, 2014. (No camp on New Year's Day.)
Where: All classes are held in the Visitor Center classrooms. Please pick up campers in parking lot A. Campers in After-Camp Care must be picked up in the Visitor Center classrooms.
Fees: Snow Safari registration will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29 for members and non-members!

Before-Camp Care is held in the Visitor Center auditorium from 8-8:45 a.m. After-Camp Care is held in the Visitor Center classrooms from 3-6 p.m. An additional fee will be charged at 6 p.m.
With our registration system, all participants must have an online account. You will need your FONZ member ID number during the process to receive the member discount. This system enables you to register multiple children at once, view your account online, and make payments. Also, non-members can join FONZ during the registration process.
Cancellation and Transfer Policies:
Cancellation requests received at least four weeks prior to the start of the session will receive a 75-percent refund. Transfer requests received at least four weeks prior to the start of the session will be charged a 10-percent administrative fee.
Please email the FONZ Snow Safari Office with cancellation and transfer requests. No refunds or changes will be made for less than four weeks notice.
All confirmation materials will be sent via email upon registration.
Mittens and scarves keep humans warm but how do animals prepare for winter? Play games and make crafts in our cozy classroom as we explore how the animal kingdom gets ready for the big chill. Then zip up your jacket before investigating further on snowy walks through the Zoo to see the grey wolves, giant pandas, and brrrrds!
The Zoo is always buzzing with excitement— even in the winter! Come out of hibernation and meet our bears, lions, tigers, and more. Learn about your favorite frosty fauna through Zoo walks, science projects, and purr-fect crafts. This camp is sure to be Zoo-riffic!
