One of the many benefits of being a Biodiversity Monitoring partner is having access not only to scientific protocols and techniques, but also to Smithsonian scientists. Our scientists are dedicated to helping mento
r the next generation of scientists. One way our scientists are able to contribute is by speaking to groups of students either at a school or during one of our Student Symposia.
If your school is a BMP partner and is interested in having a scientist come visit to share his research and listen and provide feedback to students' research, please contact the Education Office. Our staff will try to pair a scientist with the needs of a particular school. If we have several schools interested in a scientist with a particular background (such as ornithology or entomology), we will try to host a student symposium where one or more scientists will talk to students.
There is a fee of $120 per day to cover the honorarium for the scientist. This includes classroom lectures, career days, special events, and more.
