Sea Turtles and Our Watersheds

Grade 6

Connect your students to their local and global watersheds through engaging activities that related to Smithsonian science and sea turtle research.

Emphasis is placed on pollution, and the effects of land pollution on organisms that live their lives in the water, such as sea turtles.

Hands-on activities will create an awareness of human actions, and how those actions can affect other organisms. The program will involve students directly in understanding living systems and relating these concepts to their world.

Virginia Science Standards Reference: 6.1, 6.5, 6.9

We have a 'per program' fee structure: $50 for local counties [Clarke, Fauquier, Frederick, Loudoun, Page, Rappahannock, Shenandoah, Warren, Winchester (City of)], $100 for non-local. There is also an extra surcharge of $25, per program, for non-school outreach program requests.
