Live Entertainment (Lion/Tiger Hill Stage)
The following performers will demonstrate the rich music and dance of Latin
America:
| 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. | Marimba Linda Xelaju—family trio playing the marimba, the national instrument of Guatemala |
| 2:30 – 3:00 p.m. | Cristal del Paraguay—dance performance by Ensueños del Paraguay |
| 3:00 – 3:30 p.m. | Alma Boliviana—folkloric dance from Bolivia |
| 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. | Escencial Tropical—salsa, merengue, and Latin beat |

In addition to the daily animal-programs schedule, the following animal encounters,
feedings, and keeper talks at Fiesta Musical will feature Zoo animals native

National Zoo Science in Latin America
(Olmsted Walk, across
from the Zoo Police station)
Scientists from the Zoo’s Amazon GIS Project, Department of Conservation
Biology, Maned Wolf Conservation program, and Migratory Bird Center will be
on hand to talk to guests about research being conducted in Latin America.
Conservation and Science Outreach and Education
(Olmsted
Walk, across from the Mane Restaurant)
Through a collaboration between FONZ and Celebra la Ciencia—a project
funded by the National Science Foundation to increase awareness in the Hispanic
community of science-education opportunities—several organizations will
host interactive activities teaching kids about conservation and science, including
the Hispanic Council for Reform and Educational Options, the Self-Reliance
Foundation, and the Zoo’s Columbia Heights Community Science Workshop.
Arts & Crafts (Great Meadow)
With the help of FONZ volunteers, kids will be able to create their own Latin
American handicrafts, including a headdress, maracas, and a rain stick.
Food Court
(Near Lion/Tiger Hill, across from Lemur Island)
A food court near Lion/Tiger Hill will feature the following vendors offering
a variety of Latin American cuisine: El Cachito, La Autentica, La Casona,
Rivera’s, and Tex-Mex-Food.
