American Association of Zoo KeepersNational Capital AAZK Chapter Named AAZK Chapter of the Year 2011

The National Zoo's chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK), the National Capital AAZK Chapter, was named AAZK Chapter of the Year at this year’s National AAZK Conference, held in San Diego in August.
The award is given to chapters for extraordinary initiative and support of AAZK and its worldwide membership, for the chapter’s commitment to conservation, and for helping fulfill the vision of animal care professionals.
There are 90 AAZK chapters. The national organization oversees the awards that are given out at the national conference.
The National Capital AAZK Chapter has 70 members, consisting mostly of keeper staff, but including other National Zoo staff, and Friends of the National Zoo staff and volunteers.
