The course will be taught at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute (former the Conservation and Research Center) in Front Royal, Virginia. SCBI Front Royal is located at the north entrance of the Shenandoah Park, approximately 70 miles west of Washington, D.C. Pick-up from Washington Dulles Airport can be arranged.

Participants will be housed at the SCBI Front Royal's Conference Center. All computer labs will be taught at the Center's Spatial Analysis Lab. The lab is equipped with 12 PC workstations, a GPS Base station, two digitizers, and color plotters and printers.

Driving Directions
From Washington, D.C.
Drive west on US-66
to exit 13, the first Front Royal exit you will see. At the
end of the ramp turn left at the stop sign. Turn right at
the stop light onto VA-55/John Marshal Highway. Travel 5 miles
on VA-55 until you hit another stop light. Turn left at the
stop light onto VA-522 South. Travel 2+ miles and watch for
a large gate and sign on your left, which reads "Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute". Through the gate follow signs to the "GIS
Lab". There is a large "GIS Laboratory" sign
and parking next to the lab.
From US-81
From US-81, take exit 300 Front Royal/Washington
onto US-66. Travel 6 miles to exit 6 for Front Royal. Follow
signs for VA-522 South/VA-340 South through Front Royal.
Once you pass an intersection with US-55 (there is a KFC
on the left), you will start to leave town, continuing on
VA-522 South. Travel 2+ miles past the intersection and watch
for a large gate and sign on your left, which reads "Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute". Through the gate follow signs to the "GIS
Lab". There is a large "GIS Laboratory" sign
and parking next to the lab.
