Exciting changes are happening at the National Zoo, and you can be a part of them.
Renovating the oldest areas of the Zoo to create modern exhibits will bring our visitors closer to our animals, to our research programs, and to our conservation projects worldwide.
A major new exhibit area recently opened. Asia Trail is home to several Asian animals—sloth bears, giant pandas, fishing cats, clouded leopards, red pandas, Asian small-clawed otters, and a Japanese giant salamander. It features a new Fujifilm Giant Panda Habitat.
Asia Trail provides so much for so many:
- a state-of-the-art exhibit built around a stimulating environment,
- a comprehensive education program for visitors, students, and teachers, and
- the expertise for in-depth research and training that aims to conserve these species in the wild.
