Small Mammal House

Small Mammal House interpreters assist visitors at the National Zoo as they explore the multifaceted world of mammals (and a few of their friends). Armadillos, meerkats, monkeys, porcupines, and naked mole-rats are just a few of the many species volunteers will interpret. Diversity, ecology, and conservation are featured topics.

Special qualifications: A strong interest in the diversity of mammals, good communication skills, and an eagerness to interact with a wide variety of visitors.

Time commitment: Three three-hour shifts a month for a year, monthly meetings, and support of exhibit-related special events.

Age requirement: You must be at least 18 years old to apply.

Training: Training will not be conducted in 2012.
