Invertebrate Interpreter Program
Invertebrate Exhibit interpreters help Zoo visitors explore the complex, fascinating world of invertebrates: corals and crabs, ants and anemones, seastars and spiders. Volunteers interact with visitors conversationally, help them use interactive exhibits, conduct feeding demonstrations, and/or carry hissing cockroaches to help visitors gain a greater appreciation of these creatures. Interpreters also staff the Pollinarium, a greenhouse with butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds, where displays and graphics explore the mechanism of plant reproduction by pollination.
Special Qualifications: A strong interest in invertebrates, good communication skills, and a sense of adventure.
Time Commitment: Three, 3-hour shifts a month for one year and monthly meetings.
Age Requirement: You must be 18 years or older to apply.
Training: April 13,
15, 20, 22, 24, 27, 29
Saturday sessions will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Weekday evening sessions will run from 6:30 to 9:00
p.m.
Prospective volunteers must be available for all training
sessions as well as a General Orientation training on
June 6.
