Junior Class Aide

Registration to be a junior or senior class aide opens on March 5, 2013 at 7 p.m.

In this popular volunteer program for younger teens, Junior Class Aides assist FONZ teachers during the Summer Safari Day Camp by interacting with children during class activities, helping supervise the class on Zoo walks, and helping with classroom setup and cleanup. Sessions are one week long (Monday through Friday).

Age requirement: You must be 13 to 15 years old to volunteer.

Special qualifications: Volunteers in this program must be interested in working with children in kindergarten through seventh grade, be flexible, have a good imagination and a sense of humor, and be willing to walk around the Zoo in Washington's summer weather.

Time commitment: Junior Class Aides are required to work two full weeks (Monday through Friday), from late June to mid-August, with a seven-hour shift per day; a minimum of 35 hours per week.

Training: Saturday, June 8, 2013
Training is mandatory for all new Junior Class Aides.
