The National Zoological Park (NZP) believes that its science programs are strengthened through the participation of graduate and post-graduate fellows.
Because NZP is not a degree-granting institution, graduate student affiliations have traditionally been arranged by individual scientists from a variety of universities, especially those institutions where NZP staff have adjunct positions.
As a unit of the Smithsonian Institution, NZP participates in the Smithsonian’s Fellowship Program, which competitively awards both graduate and post-graduate fellowships each year in April.
This program is administered by the Smithsonian’s
Office of Fellowships and Internships. The interest and expertise
of NZP’s science staff and affiliates can be seen at
a glance through the Smithsonian Office of Fellowships and Internships.
Graduate and post-graduate opportunities vary considerably in relation to the funds that are available through the Fellowship Program and grants that are secured by individual scientists.
