The Smithsonian Institution’s National Zoological Park is offering a three-year residency program in zoological medicine. The residency is designed to train those interested in zoological medicine and specialty board certification by the American College of Zoological Medicine.
The training emphasizes clinical medicine and surgery for a wide variety of species held at NZP’s two facilities, Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC and the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in Front Royal, Virginia.

The second and third years of the program are contingent upon successful completion of the first year.
This is a non-federal position, supported bythe Smithsonian Trust, with annual funding of $39,000 plus benefits.
Application materials are due December 26, 2011.
The person selected for the residency will be notified by January 10, 2012.
Earliest start date for the program is August 1, 2012.
