From Clinton via Branch Avenue (Route 5)
Follow Branch Avenue North (Route 5) toward Washington, D.C.
Continue on Branch Avenue North (Route 5) to the Suitland Parkway.
Exit onto Suitland Parkway Westbound toward Washington, D.C.
Continue on Suitland Parkway Westbound.
Bear right onto Firth Sterling Avenue (the Anacostia Metro Station is on your right).
Continue on Firth Sterling Avenue, into 295 North (Sterling Avenue empties into 295 north).
Continue on 295 North to the Southwest Freeway (I-395).
Continue on Southwest Freeway (route I-395) to Maine Avenue.
Exit Maine Avenue, and continue on Maine Avenue to Independence Avenue. Maine turns into Independence Avenue.
Bear right onto 17th Street (at the Washington Monument).
Continue on 17th Street (17th Street turns into Connecticut Avenue). Continue on Connecticut Avenue until you reach the 3000 block. The National Zoo will be on your right at 3001 Connecticut Avenue.
