More about events

Celebrate Kids’ Farm, sponsored by State Farm®, throughout the month of April with special activities and events. Every day, we’ll have special animal encounters, keeper talks, and demonstrations. Plus, an exclusive Farm giveaway from State Farm® for children every weekend in April!

Last spring we announced that budget cuts would require closing the Kids’ Farm. The outpouring of support from our community was unprecedented. State Farm®, our generous “good neighbor,” agreed to fund the Kids’ Farm for the next five years. Together, we will commemorate this wonderful donation and our beloved Farm!

Smartphone Game

A lot of the food we eat comes from a farm—from delicious organic fruits to the ingredients of a pizza.

We think it's important to support local farms, which is why we are thankful to State Farm for supporting the National Zoo's Kids' Farm!

Play the Kids' Farm Recipe Game. Like a gourmet food recipe, there are a lot of ingredients that make up a good farm. Find all the ingredients and unlock a prize. No apron required, just a phone with texting capabilities!

Come to the Zoo, download the SCVNGR app, click on treks, and find the Kids' Farm Recipe game, OR send a text message to 728647 with the keyword "Kids' Farm Recipe" to get started.

The first 10 players to reach 10 points each weekend will unlock a prize.

Bon "App"etit!
