Giant Pizza Playground

The Pizza Playground is back! The Pizza Party, a group of citizens united by the common goal of saving the Smithsonian's National Zoo's Pizza Playground, was formed. Thanks to many supporters, Friends of the National Zoo members, and Ledo Pizza's® generosity, the Pizza Playground was saved.

In celebration of this, the new pizza is square and better than ever! The improved Pizza Playground, sponsored by Ledo Pizza®, opened in June 2013. Pizza's here!

About the Pizza Playground

Every year, some two million people visit the National Zoo. Many of these visitors are youngsters having their very first experience with animals and nature right within our gates! This initial exposure can be the basis for a lifelong interest in conservation, which is a great passion to encourage in future leaders. To playfully encourage and foster enthusiasm for the natural world, we have cooked up a "tasty" idea . . .

The Pizza Playground

Pizza GoatDesigned for children three to eight, the Pizza Playground at Kids' Farm draws youngsters to the Zoo's critical mission in a fun, inventive way. They can learn where food comes from as they crawl, climb, and run through the Zoo's giant Pizza Playground. Here, conservation concepts are reinforced through hands-on play.
