Conservation is always on tap at the Smithsonian's National Zoo, and guests are invited to raise their beer glasses in support during Brew at the Zoo. Hosted by Friends of the National Zoo, the popular event will take place this year on July 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. More than 40 microbreweries will have their beer on tap for tasting. Guests can pair their favorite brews with sidewalk specialties for sale from local food trucks including Lemongrass and DC Slices. The fun will keep flowing throughout the evening with games and a live musical performance by Four Star Combo.
"Brew at the Zoo provides a great opportunity for young professionals to advance the work of the National Zoo while enjoying a good brew," said FONZ Executive Director, Bob Lamb. "Our guests love the event, make new friends, and know that they are helping us support the animal care, science, and education programs of the Zoo."
The VIP Brew Club will provide guests with an exclusive passport to sample brews from around the world. In addition, guests will also enjoy Olympic-themed games and animal demonstrations. Gourmet restaurants, including The Queen Vic and Rosa Mexicano, will serve winning dishes.
Tickets for Brew at the Zoo are on sale now and can be purchased through the National Zoo's website or at any National Zoo gift shop between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (Please note space is limited and the event typically sells out, so please purchase tickets early). Tickets are $50 for FONZ members and $65 for non-members and include a commemorative beer mug, and samplings from participating breweries. VIP Brew Club tickets are $85 for FONZ members and $100 for non-members. VIP tickets include parking. Sober ride tickets are also available for $30.
All proceeds from Brew at the Zoo support animal care, conservation science, education and sustainability at the Smithsonian's National Zoo.
