Friends of the National Zoo invites guests to raise a wine glass and toast to conservation at Grapes with the Apes at the Smithsonian's National Zoo Sept. 20, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Renowned local and national wineries will offer vintages for guests to sip while mingling in the Great Apes House after hours. The Zoo's troop of six western lowland gorillas will be staying up late and on view especially for the occasion. In addition to exclusive after-hours access to the great apes, guests will enjoy a live musical performance by Capital Jazz Band and will take home a commemorative wine glass. Light fare will be available for purchase to complement the selection of wines.

For an extra swinging good time, guests can purchase tickets for the VIP Crush Pad. Tickets will include exclusive access to a private wine and hors d'oeuvre happy hour in the Think Tank before the event starts. The outdoor Crush Pad will be open during the event and will feature fare from area restaurants and a private bar. VIP guests will also be treated to special animal demonstrations and receive a commemorative Grapes with the Apes wine tote.

Tickets for Grapes with the Apes are on sale through the Zoo's website or at any National Zoo gift shop. General admission tickets are $40 for FONZ members and $55 for non-members. Parking is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. VIP tickets are $85 for FONZ members and $100 for non-members. Parking is included with VIP tickets. Sober ride tickets are $20.
