Birdwatchers who spotted the first spring arrival of the wood thrush, Baltimore oriole, chestnut-sided warbler, and scarlet tanager (pictured below, from left to right) in each of Vermont's 14 counties received a free bag of Bird Friendly® coffee, courtesy of Birds & Beans.

These colorful songbirds spend their summers in the forests of Vermont and their winters in the tropics, often in the habitat created by an overstory of trees on a shade grown coffee farm.
The contest helped to highlight the relationship between the habitat that many migratory birds need in both their breeding and wintering areas.
