Hawk Watching and Neotropical Birds: A Closer Look at Bird Migration
The wonders of bird migration have inspired a series of tours throughout the year in collaboration with the Smithsonian Associates. The final tour this season looks at hawks and neotropical birds.
During the month of September, thousands of broad-winged hawks migrate through the mid-Atlantic. Search the skies for large flocks of these and other birds of prey; in addition, look for the many warblers and other neotropical migrants that are migrating. (The exact location of this tour is yet to be determined as our bird folks are busy searching out the best location).
Saturday, Sept. 24
Andy Sprenger co-leads these tours with a staff member from the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center. A picnic box lunch is included.
