Forests are invaluable for their roles in biodiversity protection and climate regulation. Global change affects forests worldwide, and understanding such changes is critical to forest conservation and climate protection efforts. Anderson-Teixeira's research looks at how forests globally interact with the Earth’s changing climate system. Anderson-Teixeira leads the Ecosystems and Climate Initiative for the Center for Tropical Forest Science – Forest Global Earth Observatory (CTFS-ForestGEO), which is an international network of forest research sites. The Ecosystems & Climate Initiative seeks to understand how global change is altering forests around the world and how changes to forest ecosystems will either mitigate or exacerbate climate change.
