Clouded Leopard

Clouded leopards are listed as vulnerable on the IUCN’s Red List of Threatened Species. It is estimated that there are fewer than 10,000 of these elusive cats left in the wild.

The National Zoo has been working to conserve clouded leopards at the Smithsonian Conservation and Biology Institute in Front Royal, Virginia, since 1978 and participates in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' Clouded Leopard Species Survival Plan to create a genetically diverse captive and wild population.

Adopt a clouded leopard and help support conservation efforts at both the National Zoo's D.C. campus and the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in Front Royal, Virginia.
