Adopt a Cheetah

Support Animals at the National Zoo

Regal and once deified, the cheetah now faces an uncertain future. Once numbering over 100,000, there are only an estimated 7,500 to 10,000 cheetahs left in the plains of Africa today.

The Smithsonian's National Zoo has contributed to cheetah conservation through research in cheetah reproduction, including pioneering methods of assisted reproduction. There is still much to be done to ensure the survival of the fastest land animal on earth.

Adopt a cheetah and help support Friends of the National Zoo and the Smithsonian's National Zoo in their mission to save species.
