Adopt a Golden Lion Tamarin

Support Animals at the National Zoo

Thirty years ago, fewer than 200 golden lion tamarins could be found in their native habitat in Brazil. As a result of breeding and reintroduction programs, the wild golden lion tamarin population has grown to more than 1,500 individuals.

Since the 1970s, the Smithsonia's National Zoo has worked with organizations, scientists from all over the world, and the government and people of Brazil to save this endangered species from extinction.

Adopt a golden lion tamarin and help support Friends of the National Zoo and the Smithsonian's National Zoo in their mission to save species.
