Nature Cubs in a Box: Coats of All Kinds

Bring the hands-on fun of Nature Cubs into your home for five weeks with Nature Cubs in a Box, Presented by Chase. You'll receive all the activity plans and supplies you need to dive right in for screen-free fun with the animals of the Smithsonian's National Zoo! The "Coats of All Kinds" series introduces you to the wide range of animal coats and coverings, from fur to feathers, and more. Featured animals include red-ruffed lemurs, alligators, crocodiles and hermit crabs.

Coats of All Kinds Includes:

  • Weekly, 35-minute livestream classes where Zoo educators engage your child with science activities, songs, stories and animal artifacts;
  • Five weeks of exciting, hands-on activities and all the supplies you'll need to do them;
  • Copies of several class storytime books for you and your child to keep and enjoy;
  • One plush animal for your child to bring to class each week (Note: A second plush may be purchased for $10 while supplies last);
  • Access to videos on the animals/topics we are learning about;
  • Access to a curated online library of age-appropriate books on the animals/topics we are learning about;
  • A family newsletter with exclusive Nature Cubs content, activity suggestions, Zoo news and more.

Livestream classes meet on Mondays, Wednesdays or Saturdays. Participants may register to attend one day of the week only.

Monday and Wednesday classes stream at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. EST. Participants may attend either the morning or afternoon session, as best fits their schedules.

Saturday classes meet at 10 a.m. EST only.

Registration

Each supply box contains enough supplies for up to two children to complete all included activities for the entire five-class series! One plush animal is included with each box. Additional plush may be added during registration.

Education staff will arrange contactless pickup of the supply boxes at the Zoo during the week of Feb.15. If you prefer your box be shipped to your home, a flat $25 shipping fee will be charged to your account (Please note: We cannot guarantee shipping by the start of class if you register after Feb. 9.)

Registration closes at close of business Feb. 17, 2021, or when sold out.
