The Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute's (SCBI) annual Autumn Conservation Festival is the only time of year this one-of-a-kind breeding and research facility located in Front Royal, Virginia, is open to the public.
The festival offers scenic views of the beautiful SCBI campus, where visitors may catch a glimpse of bison, endangered cranes, and maned wolves. Scientists, animal care staff, and researchers are on hand to answer questions on caring for critically endangered species and explain the amazing technology used to save them. Visitors also have the unique chance to find about SCBI's history and programs.
SCBI is a large and hilly campus, and festival activities are scheduled throughout the facility. Appropriate attire for outdoor activities and comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended. This event will be held rain or shine.
