Entry Passes (Tickets)

The Zoo is free and open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Entry passes are required for all guests, including infants.

Need passes for a specific date? Passes open on a rolling basis, and can be reserved up to 30 days in advance. More passes are released one week out and one day out. Same-day passes are also available.

Option 1: Free Entry Pass (walking into the Zoo)

If you walk, bike, taxi or take public transportation, you need an entry pass for each person in your group.

  • Free
  • All guests, including infants, must have a pass
  • Passes are not timed
  • Limit six passes per reservation

Access the Zoo via the Connecticut Avenue or Harvard Street Bridge entrances.

NOTE: If you choose a Paid Parking Pass (option 2), you do not need entry passes for your group.

Option 2: Paid Parking Pass (parking at the Zoo)

If you drive and park at the Zoo, your Paid Parking Pass covers entry for everyone in your personal vehicle. You do not need to reserve free entry passes for your group.

  • $30 per car
  • One pass per car, covers all occupants
  • Passes are not timed
  • If additional parking spots become available, passes are released in Etix same day at 7 a.m.

All cars must enter the Zoo at the Connecticut Avenue entrance (3001 Connecticut Ave, NW).

Parking Passes

The number of free parking passes that come with your membership is based on your membership level.

Parking passes can be reserved through Etix by following these steps:

  1. Select the date of your visit
  2. Enter your member ID when prompted
  3. Reserve your pass!
  4. If you do not have a free parking pass available, you have the option to purchase a parking pass for $30.
    Please note: members who pay for parking will not receive a reimbursement

  • Your parking pass covers entry to the Zoo for everyone in your car.
  • Parking passes are not timed. Enter the Zoo any time from 8 a.m. to last admittance.
  • It can take a few days for a new or reactivated member ID to become live in the Etix system. If you recently joined or renewed and your membership ID is not recognized, try again the next day.

Parking

If you plan to walk, bike, taxi or take public transportation to the Zoo, you should reserve a free entry pass for every member of your group before your visit.

If you choose to drive and park at the Zoo, you need to purchase a paid parking pass for $30 before your visit (one pass per vehicle).

A parking pass covers entry to the Zoo for all passengers in your personal vehicle. You do not need to reserve free entry passes for each person in your car.

Please note that parking spaces are limited each day and may sell out.

No. When you arrive at the Zoo in your personal vehicle, you will be directed to the Bus Lot. From there, a parking attendant will check your ticket and direct you to available parking.

A paid parking pass covers admission for all the passengers in one personal vehicle (car). A parking pass is required for each vehicle. 

All children (under the age of 18) must be accompanied by an adult chaperone. At least one adult chaperone is required to accompany up to 10 children.

Commercial vans/vehicles must be able to fit into a standard parking space or they will not be permitted to park at the Zoo.

Group Reservations

All groups must make a reservation before visiting the Zoo; admission is free.

Please note: Group reservations are processed Monday through Friday. Requests for group reservations must be made a minimum of 72-hours prior to the date of your visit.

From Labor Day to Memorial Day (September through May):

Bus parking is available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays only, pending availability.

Reservations are required and parking spaces are limited. Blackout dates may apply and are at the discretion of the Zoo.

From Memorial Day to Labor Day (June through August):

There is no bus parking available.

Buses can unload and load passengers on Connecticut Avenue in designated areas marked with signage. Please note, unloading is permitted for passenger drop-off only.

Buses are not permitted to unload or load inside the Zoo or on Zoo grounds unless they have a parking reservation.

Idling and parking on Connecticut Avenue are prohibited. Buses parked or idling illegally may be ticketed by the Metropolitan Police Department.

If you have passes that you can no longer use, we encourage you to call Etix and request a cancellation to free up tickets for other guests. Refunds for paid parking passes are available until the day of your reservation; same-day parking refunds are not available. To cancel an entry pass or request a parking pass refund, call Etix at 1-800-514-3849 ext. 1.

If you can no longer visit the Zoo on the date of your entry pass, you can cancel your passes for that day and request new passes for a different day.

If you have a parking pass, you can request a refund from the ticket provider up until the day of your visit; same-day parking refunds are not available.
