Have you heard the buzz? FONZ Memberships are transitioning to Smithsonian’s National Zoo Memberships! We will 'bee' updating this page with new information, so please check back frequently.

Learn more about the exciting benefits of being a member, or join or renew here.

For almost 63 years, Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ) has helped the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute save species through educational and fun experiences. As you may have heard, FONZ will be leaving the Zoo — but the Zoo will be starting a new membership program, which will automatically include all current FONZ members. Until the Smithsonian's National Zoo Membership is up and running, you can continue to join or renew here knowing that your membership will smoothly transition to the new program. If you're not already a member, please consider joining today.

The Smithsonian's National Zoo has always been a great way to connect with animals while having fun with family and friends. When you become a member, you receive exclusive benefits like special opportunities to meet our Zoo residents, discounts at our stores, and more.

We thank the thousands of member families who support the Zoo's commitment to conservation. Members are our strongest champions of animal conservation and wildlife research, and help us fulfill our mission to save species through science, education and global conservation work, and we are all so grateful.
