The Smithsonian's National Zoo is open every day of the year except Dec. 25.

Please be aware that certain attractions, including the Speedwell Conservation Carousel, along with animal demonstrations and outdoor animal viewing, are weather dependent.


Grounds: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last admittance 4 p.m.) | 7 p.m. closing in summer* (last admittance 6 p.m.)
Exhibit Buildings: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. | 6 p.m. closing in summer* (Amazonia opens at 10 a.m. all year)
Dining & Shopping: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. | 5 p.m. closing in summer*
Visitor Center: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. | 6 p.m. closing in summer*

*Summer hours begin March 15 and run through Sept. 30. Exact dates may vary each year. Please check back for updates.

The Time Machine helps you plan a visit to the Zoo by allowing you to select a date to see future hours. Please note that hours are subject to change due to special events, inclement weather and unscheduled closures, so we recommend checking in again closer to your visit.
