Hours

Admission is free! The Smithsonian's National Zoo is open every day, except Dec. 25.

Grounds: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (last admittance 6 p.m.) | 5 p.m. closing in winter* 
Exhibit Buildings: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. | 4 p.m. closing in winter* (Amazonia opens at 10 a.m. year round)
Dining & Shopping: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. | 4 p.m. closing in winter*
Visitor Center: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. | 4 p.m. closing in winter*

*Winter hours begin Oct. 1 and run through March 14. Exact dates may vary each year. Please check back for updates.

Please be aware that animal demonstrations, outdoor viewing and certain attractions, including the Speedwell Conservation Carousel, are weather dependent.

Time Machine

The Time Machine helps you plan a visit to the Zoo by allowing you to select a date to see future hours. Please note that hours are subject to change due to special events, inclement weather and unscheduled closures, so we recommend checking in again closer to your visit.
