You might know all of the animals at the Smithsonian's National Zoo, but as a Friends of the National Zoo member you have the exclusive opportunity to see some animals you may have never met before!

On Saturday, Sept. 8, FONZ members are invited to "Fur, Feathers and Scales: A Live Animal Program with The Maryland Zoo," held in the Smithsonian's National Zoo's Visitor Center Auditorium.*

Get an up-close look at representatives from different animal families, and discover what makes each one unique. This event also offers a great opportunity to learn how Association of Zoos and Aquariums institutions collaborate to support conservation and save species.

The Maryland Zoo will host two animal presentations for families with elementary-age children, from 9-10 a.m. and 10:30-11:30 a.m.

A third presentation for older teens and adults will take place from 12-1 p.m.

Please be aware that there will be no opportunity to touch or handle any of the animals during this auditorium-style, live animal demonstration. Participants are required to stay seated for the duration of the hour-long program. This program is not appropriate for infants or toddlers.

These small-group presentations can only host 100 people, so reserve your seats as soon as possible!

We'll see you at the Zoo's Visitor Center Auditorium on Saturday, Sept. 8!

Tickets are no longer available and will not be sold at the door on the day of the event.

*The Maryland Zoo will determine which species will visit on the day of the event. The animal shown in the picture above may not represent the animals that will visit the Zoo on Sept. 8.
