About the Farm

Federación Comercializidora de Café Especial de Guatemala (FECCEG) was founded in 2006 and is dedicated to organic specialty coffee production, supporting smallholder producers and their quality of life, the health of the environment and their communities, and overcoming the challenges of coffee price fluctuations. They are passionate about what they do and believe every achievement “belongs to all”. Located in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, this region is notable for its majestic mountains, volcanoes, and diverse microclimates, enabling the production of high-quality coffee with unique characteristics.

“The Bird Friendly certification raises awareness for the protection of wildlife and improves marketing opportunities,” Manager Juan Francisco said. When asked how he feels when he sees birds and other wildlife on the farm, Francisco continues, “It makes me feel happy to give protection to native and migratory birds.”

Featured bird on the finca: Warbling Vireo

Feathered fact: Overwinters in Central America. Common in riparian areas with cottonwoods in the summer.
