First Ever Rock-N-Roar 80s Night to be Hosted at the Smithsonian's National Zoo
Put on your dancing shoes, tease your hair, break out your acid wash jeans, pull on your legwarmers and get ready to rock! Friends of the National Zoo is hosting its first ever 80s dance party-themed Rock-N-Roar Sept. 27, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Smithsonian's National Zoo. Musical guest Gonzo's Nose, will fight for guests' right to party and perform the biggest hits of the decade that gave birth to hair bands, power ballads, synthesizers and the best-selling album of all time. One of DC's newest DJs will also spin guests right round back to the 80s.
Karma is a boomerang and so is fashion. Especially nostalgic guests should dust off their best 80s outfits or dress up as their favorite 80s pop culture icons for the Karma Chameleon Costume Contest. The best time-warp inspired garb will win a scheduled breakfast with the birds at the Zoo's Bird House.
FONZ member tickets are $15 and non-member tickets are $20. Beer and food will be available for purchase at the event. To purchase tickets and learn more information visit the Zoo's website. Parking passes are not included with general admission tickets and are $5 for FONZ members and $8 for non-members.
For guests who want to rock out with the Zoo's lions and tigers, tickets are also available for the Whole Foods Market Super Rad VIP Lounge. Rad VIPs will enjoy exclusive access to a dance party around Great Cats circle, two free drink tickets, hors d'oeuvres, a Rock-N-Roar souvenir, free parking and view the Zoo's lions and tigers noshing on special enrichment. VIP tickets are $40.
Please note guests must be at least 21 years old to attend Rock-N-Roar. A valid photo ID is required for admission. All proceeds benefit animal care and conservation science at the Smithsonian's National Zoo. Rock-N-Roar is sponsored by Whole Foods Market, The Coca-Cola Company, Starbucks and Yellowbook.
