Does your child’s teddy bear need a checkup? Families with preschool and elementary school-age children can talk to veterinarians, scale rock-climbing walls, enjoy live entertainment, feast on kid-friendly treats and much more at the National Zoo’s 16th Annual Guppy Gala sponsored by UnitedHealthcare® on May 14 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Guppy Gala, hosted by Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ), will feature live performances by children’s singers, magicians, jugglers and gymnasts. Families can go rock-climbing and test equipment in the Zoo’s Construction Zone.  Additionally, at this year’s UnitedHealthcare Veterinary Center, National Zoo vets will offer stuffed animal checkups and answer questions about how human healthcare compares to wildlife care. 

“Guppy Gala offers a fun night out for families, featuring dozens of carnival-like activities throughout the Zoo,” said Bob Lamb, executive director of FONZ.   “The ticket price includes unlimited access to food, games and giveaways, which is a good value.”
